Body For Nobody (2025)
Project type
Choreography
Date
December 2025
Location
Studio Ramli Hassan
Between masking and revealing, the body makes its quiet negotiations: what to show, what to withhold, what to surrender. Body For Nobody unfolds as a ritual of unmaking, tracing the fragile thresholds between survival and release, visibility and disappearance.
It begins where identity slips, when the body stops performing what it is supposed to be.
Here, the mask is not disguise but passage. The performers move through coverings and undoings, through gestures that hover between protection and exposure. Each movement asks: what remains when identity loosens its grip?
What lingers are traces: a residue of breath, of skin against air. The work does not seek recognition, only witnessing. Each motion becomes an offering to the space itself, to a body that no longer belongs to “somebody” but to the shared pulse that holds it.
There is no resolution here, only a slow thinning. Through cycles of concealment and release, the performers move toward a collective presence, a moment where individuality dissolves and disappearance begins to feel like a kind of freedom.
